The Mission of the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement.

Introduction

On behalf of our Chapter Chair, our Board of Directors, over 300 volunteers and our entire staff, we welcome you to the Niagara Falls Chapter of the American Red Cross. Your decision to serve your community through the Red Cross has made you an important part of a family that stretches not only across the U.S.A. but also around the world.

Red Cross depends solely on its volunteers for delivery of services at every level. Without volunteers it would cease to exist. Our world today changed almost by the hour, as does our community, and with these changes come ever so many more needs to be met.

So you see, we at the Red Cross rely on each and every volunteer to meet today's expanding need for services and, in turn, our volunteer leadership and Red Cross staff are here to help you do your job better.

Wear your symbols of Red Cross proudly. They tell the world you've made a choice to reach out and help humanity...and that's what we at Red Cross do best!
